HYDERABAD, Jan 26: A large number of consumers, belonging to Tando Tayyab, Talab-3, Misri Shah Colony, Millatabad and Juman Shah Shaheed Colony, observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Sunday.

They were protesting against Hesco for issuing inflated bills and resorting to load-shedding.

Talking to newsmen, Mir Rasheed Talpur alleged factories and commercial organizations were stealing electricity in connivance with Hesco staff in the Phulelli sub-division and domestic consumers were made to pay inflated and detection bills.

They said Hesco resorted to “artificial” load-shedding to cover up the power theft.

They appealed higher authorities of Wapda and Hesco to ensure detection bills were not issued.

They said power theft should be checked and an inquiry should be initiated against what they called corrupt SDO and line superintendent of the Phulelli sub-division.
