HYDERABAD, Jan 26: The relatives of local Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leader Rahim Detho have said the Hyderabad police arrested Detho on Saturday and held him incommunicado.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday, the brother of Detho, Karim Bux; his wife, Shaista; and JSQM leader Chacha Qasim Soomro expressed fear Detho might be killed in a fake encounter.

They said the police had registered many fake cases against Detho and arrested him in the jurisdiction of the Tando Yousuf police station over a minor scuffle.

They appealed the authorities concerned to order the release of Detho. They said if he was wanted in any case, he should be produced in the court.

Earlier, the relatives also held a demonstration against the arrest of Detho.

Our Correspondent adds: The Police arrested three accomplices of Raheem Detho, an activist of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz in different raids on Sunday.

Their identification could not be known.

Detho was picked up by the Tando Yousuf police two days back but he has not been shown arrested.

One case of robbery in 2002 is registered against him at the Tando Yousuf police station. It was lodged after a robbery was committed in a cotton mill, owned by a Hindu family. He is an absconder in the case.

At least a dozen cases are pending against him at the Phulelli police station.

BANNERS REMOVED: Police removed the banners inscribed with slogans against the leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal from various parts of the city and Latifabad.

The banners were apparently hoisted in various areas by the Ahaliyan-e-Hyderabad, criticizing the leadership of the MMA.
