KRL through to quarterfinals

KARACHI, Jan 25: Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) set up a quarterfinal clash with National Bank after their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy’s last 16 tie against Allied Bank Limited (ABL) ended in a tame draw at UBL Sports Complex on Saturday.

The bankers were 213 in their second innings after being asked to chase a virtually impossible target of 491 in 56 overs. The highlights being fine batting of young left-handed opener Usman Tariq (96 off 166 balls, 14 fours) and Wajahatullah Wasti (73 off 106 balls, nine fours, two sixes).

Earlier, KRL added 106 to their overnight second innings score of 347. Misbah-ul-Haq, who was batting on 102 at the start of play on the fourth and final day, finished unbeaten on 167 off 292 deliveries. His knock included 20 fours and three sixes.
