KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: An unidentified gunman opened fired on Tuesday morning on two Americans killing one and seriously wounding another, said the US embassy statement.
The two Americans who were employed as contractor at the US military camp Doha were fired from the bushes on highway 85, killing one and critically wounding another, said the statement. The identity of both the Americans was not disclosed.
US ambassador to Kuwait Richard Johns condemned the attack and said: “We condemn this terrorist incident, which has tragically cost the life of an innocent American citizen”.
No group has taken the responsibility for the incident, as the assailants are still at large.
Kuwait and US military police have started investigation and searching for the assailants.
THe Kuwait government has condemned the attack on American citizens and said the incident won’t effect Kuwait-US ties.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Sabah while talking to newsmen said: “The incident involving gunning down of a civilian American and wounding of another is regrettable”.
He said everyone has deplored this criminal act against our American guests, adding such conduct was unusual for our Kuwaiti society.
He instructed the law enforcement agencies to nab the culprits and swiftly brought them to justice.
