LAHORE, Jan 21: The ARD took out a procession on Tuesday to protest the rigging in the byelections and call upon the government not to resort to the condemnable practice while holding byelection on a Lahore seat on Jan 26.
The rally started from the Bhaati Gate and concluded at Tarannum Chowk, with the participants raising slogans against the government on the entire route.
Some of them carried banners against the ‘dictatorial system’ in the country and possible US attack on Iraq.
PML-N leaders Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Tehmina Daultana, Inamullah Khan Niazi and PPP leader Chaudhry Ghulam Qadir addressed.
Saad alleged that even the police officials had cast bogus votes in the Jan 15 election on a provincial seat.
On Wednesday, the ARD will set up a camp near the railway station to express resentment against the US war hysteria and the humiliation the Pakistanis were having to face in America because of the INS registration laws.
