Cornelius Trophy from today

LAHORE, Jan 20: Twenty-six teams are taking part in the Cornelius Trophy 2002-2003 starting at various centres of the country from Tuesday.

The teams have been divided into four pools from “A” to D”. Pool “D” has further been divided into Group-I and II.

Pool position:

A: Sukkur, Larkana, Karachi Greens, Thatta, Hyderabad, Nawabshah.

B: Mardan, Nowshehra, Fata, Haripur, Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat.

C: Quetta, Pishin, Sibi, Naseerabad.

D: Group-I: Rahimyar Khan, Afghanistan, Okara, Gujrat, Rajanpur.

Group-II: Jhang, Mianwali, Islamabad, Attock, Lahore Greens.

The semifinals will be held from Feb 18 to 20 and final from March 1 to 4.

The two finalists will qualify for the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy for the 2003-2004 season while the last two teams will be relegated to the PCB Trophy.

First round schedule:

Pool “A”: Sukkur v Larkana at Shahi Bagh Ground, Shikarpur; Karachi Greens v Thatta at Pakistan Steel Ground, Karachi; Hyderabad v Nawabshah at Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad.

Pool “B”: Mardan v Nowshehra at Kohat Stadium, Kohat; Fata v Haripur at Gymkhana Ground, Peshawar; Dera Ismail Khan v Kohat at D.I Khan Stadium.

Pool “C”: Quetta v Pishin at PCB Academy Ground, Karachi; Sibi v Naseerabad at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Karachi.

Pool “D” Group-I: Rahimyar Khan v Afghanistan at Mahmood Stadium, Rahimyar Khan; Okara v Gujrat at Zahoor Elahi Stadium, Gujrat.

Pool “D” Group-II: Jhang v Mianwali; at Chenab College, Jhang.
