DADU, Jan 20: The delay in release of funds for hospitals by the district governments is causing hardships for patients as well as the hospital staff.
This was stated by the director-general, health, Sindh, Dr Qadir Bux Memon, on Monday while speaking at a seminar on ‘Basic Development Needs: Programme for Fishermen of Manchhar Lake’ by the World Health Organization (WHO) at the basic health centre in Babuk.
He said that district-level vigilance committees have been constituted to monitor the performance of hospitals, basic health centres and dispensaries.
Memon said that more equipment and staff would be provided to the health centres and hospitals, which had been neglected in the past.
Assuring that health facilities, which had been closed down in the Kachho and Kohistan areas, would be made re-opened, he said that the people should inform him about the performance of the doctors so he could take appropriate action against them.
The EDO (health), Dr Khadim Hussain Lakhair, who is also the district general manager of the BDN programme, said that the WHO had established four primary schools, two each for girls and boys, near the Manchhar Lake area, adding that 11 vocational centres for women had also been established in the area.
