LAHORE, Jan 29: A young man and a teenaged girl committed suicides at their homes in separate incidents in the city on Tuesday.

The Shahdara police said Zulfikar of Malik Park took poison and fell unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim was a father of five.

Quoting family, the police said the victim was upset over domestic issues.

The Defence-B police said 18-year-old Rabia swallowed poison at her home in Lidhar village after a quarrel with her sister over a cell phone. She was taken to hospital where she died.

The bodies were handed over to their families after formalities.

ROBBERIES: Robbers took away cash and valuables worth Rs5 million in five hits in the city on Tuesday.

Five armed men, riding three motorcycles, deprived  Rizwan and his employee of Rs2.5 million on Begum Road.

Four robbers barged in the house of Arshad in Shah Fareed Colony in Sabzazar police limits and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs2 million.

Two robbers stormed into the house of Zaheer in Rafiq Park in Shadbagh police limits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs375,000.

Some robbers burst into the house of Anees in Pak-Arab Housing Society in Kot Lakhpat and looted cash and valuables worth Rs200,000. Two armed men deprived Liaqat of cash and a cell phone in Baghbanpura police limits.
