BAHAWALPUR, Jan 17: Four armed motorcyclists on Friday looted Rs2.2 million from a bank at Mauza Musafirkhana, about 20 kms from here.
Armed dacoits entered the ABL branch, disarmed guard Abdul Aziz and injured him with a dagger on resistance. The intruders held up cashier Shehzad and manager Imtiaz Lakhwera at pistol point, scooped cash and escaped with the booty.
Receiving information, the Musafirkhana police cordoned off the area but the dacoits disappeared in the rural area.
The injured guard was admitted to the BVH where his condition was described as critical.
BSc results: Islamia University on Friday announced the results of B.Sc second annual examinations, 2002.
Out of 1,002 candidates, 357 were declared successful with a pass percentage of 35.62.
Similarly, 16 out of 35 candidates were declared successful in the mass communication first annual examinations, 2002, showing a pass percentage of 46.
MURDER ATTEMPT: Rana Khalid Mahmood, correspondent of an Urdu daily, and his wife were critically injured allegedly by Muhammad Azhar Siddique, Khalid’s brother-in-law, early Friday.
The couple were admitted to the BVH whereas their condition was stated to be serious. Baghdadul Jadid police have registered a case against the accused who reportedly carried out the attack over a domestic dispute.
