DADU, Jan 17: Pakistan Oppressed Nations’ Movement chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai has said that the smaller provinces were deprived of their rights by the “big brother,” Punjab.
He was speaking at the 99th birth anniversary of the founder of the Jeay Sindh movement, the late G.M. Syed, in Sann, Dadu district, on Friday.
He said that the present government had established the One- unit again by establishing the district governments in the country.
He said that the federal government was ruling over the provinces through the district governments and it had not distributed powers properly to union councils as yet.
Mr Achakzai said that the resources of the small provinces were usurped by the “big brother” Punjab through different ways.
Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat said that the late Syed had always talked about the rights of Sindh and the Sindhi nation.
The provincial minister for communication and works, Arbab Ghulam Raheem, said that the people of Sindh and the nationalist leaders should follow the policies of the late Syed.
The chairman of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz-Z, Syed Zain Shah, said that the late Syed had raised his voice for the rights of Sindh and had struggled against the establishment for the rights of the oppressed Sindhi nation.
He pledged that till his death, he would follow the policy of the late Syed.
The chairman, Sindh National Party, Dr Dodo Maheri, said that the economy of Pakistan was destroyed due to wrong policies of the government and the country would face a situation like the one, prevailing in Afghanistan, in future if the policies were not changed.
He said that resources of the Sindh province were looted by the establishment through different ways.
The vice-chairman, Sindh National Front, Gul Mohammad Jakhrani, said that if the Sindhi people did not follow the policy of the late Syed, they would not get freedom.
Ponam general secretary Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah said that the Syed family would spread the message of the late Syed throughout Sindh by holding literary conferences and meetings in every city and town.
MNA Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Ibrahim Joyo, the chairman of Seraiki Qaumi Movement, Makhdoom Muzaffar Hashmi, labour leader Qamoos Gul Khatak, human rights activist Noor Naz Agha and others also spoke on the occasion.
