KARACHI, Jan 17: Five ships carrying containers, crude oil and to load molasses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Global Progress, Golden Bay, Panos-G to unload and load containers and Della to load molasses were berthed after the departure of two.

The ships which departed included India Star and Islamabad, while Mar Challenger, Gulf Lion, Panos-G, Mol Sincerity, Sonali and Wan Hai-302 are due to sail out on Saturday.

Owing to higher handling of the liquid tonnage the total cargo handled rose to 0.106m tons comprising 36,818 tons

of export tonnage including 20,000 tons of molasses and 68,864 tons of import cargo, which also included 60,071 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Hyundai Highway, Izumo, Jamila, with containers, Arcturus, to load 19,000 tons of molasses and Asante, with crude oil.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Jan 17: Two ships carrying containers and iron ore were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal and IOCB during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Friday.

Meanwhile, two more ships carrying chemicals also arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.

Six ships, Msc Edna, Francisca Schulte, Pearl of Jeddah, Mutaira, Eastern Liberity and E. Trader were busy in loading and offloading containers, coal, chemical and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 35,560 tons comprising 20,583 tons of import cargo and 14,977 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 585 containers (Teus), was handled.

Two ships, Eastern Liberity and Msc Edna sailed out, while Pearl of Jeddah was expected to leave the port on Friday.
