KARACHI, Jan 16: The multi-million project of Sharea Faisal Flyover will be inaugurated on March 23, six months ahead of schedule.
The project was to be completed in two years but the pace of work was expedited on the initiative of the city government which took keen interest in completing it in one-and-a-half year.
The Nazim of Karachi, Naimatullah Khan, visited the under-construction flyover on Thursday along with the EDO Works, Brig Zahir Qadri, Nazim of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Abdul Wahab, Naib Nazim, Saleem Azhar and Naib Nazim of Shah Faisal Town, Islamullah Siddiqui besides other elected representatives and concerned officials.
They acknowledged that though the foundation stone of this flyover had been laid on Aug 18, 2001, the construction work was started several months later for certain reasons. Despite this delay, they noted, the deadlines for different jobs on the project were met and, on the directive of the City Nazim, the work was expedited to the extent that its completion was ensured much ahead of schedule.
Naimatullah Khan, speaking on the occasion, attributed the exceptional accomplishment to the “sincerity and spirit demonstrated by the city government.” —APP
