KARACHI, Jan 15: The Defence Housing Authority on Tuesday assured residents that it was planning to develop a graveyard in Phase VIII to meet their long-standing demand.

The assurance was given by DHA Administrator Brig Mohammad Abdullah to a delegation of the residents that called on him at his office.

He directed DHA officials concerned to arrange a joint visit of the residents and officials so that their input could also be obtained and looked into while finalising the plan for undertaking development activities.

The delegation led by Attique-ur-Rehman was informed about a positive development towards making the stalled DHA Cogen plant operational. It was said that the complex process of rehabilitation of the plant was in an advanced stage of planning.

It is worth noting that the DHA Cogen plant was set up a few years back for power generation and seawater desalination so that water and electricity shortage being faced by residents could be dealt with. However, soon after the project inauguration it developed some faults. Since then, it had rarely operated satisfactorily.

The DHA administrator underlined the need for enhanced interaction between the officials and residents’ association for speedy resolution of their problems.
