SHORAN, Nov 24: Former MNA Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind has called for support to the Baloch Government in the Nimroz province of Afghanistan, where Baloch tribesmen are said to have taken over control from the Taliban regime.

Talking to newsmen here, he called upon the United Nations and its humanitarian agencies to provide assistance to the people in the province without any discrimination.

He welcomed reports that a council of the elders of the Baloch tribesmen had taken over the administrative control of the province.

Sardar Rind lamented that the Taliban government had ignored the Baloch people and had not addressed their problems.

He also regretted that the Taliban had denied the tribesmen representation in their government.

The former MNA from the Kachhi district said the Taliban had stopped playing Balochi programmes on Kabul Radio. He hoped that the Northern and Southern Alliance would give due recognition to the Baloch people by inviting them in talks for forming a broad-based government in Afghanistan.

Sardar Rind urged UN agencies and the United States to give due importance to the province of Nimroz, which, he said, was the fourth biggest province of the country.

He also hoped that Uzbek Commander General Rashid Dostum would spare the lives of 500 Baloch volunteers trapped in the Kunduz fighting by giving them a safe passage back to Balochistan.
