RAWALPINDI, Jan 12: Qaumi Jamhoori Party chief Asghar Khan has said that the government has no justification to stop former premiers — Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto — from returning to the country.
He made the statement during a meeting of the office-bearers of the QJP, said a press release.
He said that the government had appointed people with criminal record at high posts and therefore it had no justification to stop Mr Sharif and Ms Bhutto from returning home.
Mr Khan said that the job of the legislatures was to frame policies not to construct roads and the allocation of Rs150 million for the MNAs under the head of development fund was a political bribe. He feared that it would cripple the district government system and lead to political exploitation.
The QJP leader said that the country was facing serious problems which were beyond the control of the present government.
Criticizing the anti-Islam policies of America, he said Pakistani nationals were harassed on one pretext or the other in the US.
The QJP leader said that US attack on Iraq would not be an easy task for America and even Pakistan would face its adverse effects.
