HYDERABAD, Jan 12: Bomb Disposal Squad officials averted a disaster by defusing a one-pound locally-made time bomb in a multi-national fast food restaurant on Thandi Sarak on Saturday night.

A sweeper working at the restaurant had noticed something suspicious wrapped in a tissue paper in the men’s lavatory and informed the assistant manager, Ikram Nabi Bachani. Subsequently the police and BDS officials were informed.

The Bomb Disposal Squad officials arrived at the site and defused the bomb.

Bomb Disposal Squad officials said that after it was defused, a search was also conducted in the two other multi-national fast food restaurants located on Thandi Sarak and Auto Bahn Road. However, nothing dangerous was recovered from any of them.

A large number of clients who were present in all the three restaurants were asked to vacate the premises before search was conducted.

Mr Ikram avoided to disclose details that a time bomb had been found in the restaurant.

However, later he lodged a case with the GOR police against unknown terrorists under section 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosive Substance Act and 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
