KARACHI: Man shot dead

KARACHI, Jan 12: A transporter was kidnapped and later shot dead in Chakiwara late Saturday night.

Police said that Mohammed Faiz alias Faizu Mama, resident of Pak Colony, was kidnapped in Chakiwara.

Six men kidnapped Faiz and took him away in a car (ABM-811). When Faiz tried to put up resistance to the kidnappers, he was shot in the leg.

His bullet-riddled body, stuffed into a gunny bag, was found at Al-Falah Chowk in Mohammedi Colony in the TPX police limits early Sunday morning.

Faiz’s son Uzair lodged an FIR at the area police station. In the FIR he named Arafat, Arshad, Waheed and Rustam for the killing of his father.

Police recovered the blood-stained car (ABM-811) in Jehanabad, Lyari, on Sunday.

Police said that Faiz belonged to the Rahman Dacoit gang. They described the killing as part of the continuing gang war between the gangs of Babu Dacoit and Rahman Dacoit.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: Two young men died in a road accident in Ferozabad late Saturday night.

Police said that police official Hasan Imran, aged 30, and Amir, aged 25, were riding a motorcycle (KDR-9459) when they skidded and crashed against the pavement.

They were rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

Nathu Khan, aged 60, died in a road accident in C-1 area, Landhi, on Sunday.

Police said Nathu Khan was run over by a speeding minibus (JA-2593) of route W-8. He died on the spot.

The bus driver sped off after the accident.

The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

DIES OF BURNS: A woman died of burns while lighting a stove in her house at Malir City late Saturday night.

Fifty-year-old Zaibunnisa was trying to light a stove when her clothes caught fire. She was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival, police said.
