HYDERABAD, Jan 12: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement will make efforts to get 52 women teachers reinstated, who were sent on forced leave on Nov 6, 2000.

This assurance was given to a delegation of 52 teachers, that called on Muttahida MPA Naeem Ishtiaq and Syed Afzal Ahmad Shah here on Saturday.

The delegation members told the Muttahida leaders the Sindh Public Service Commission had scrutinized their degrees and other relevant papers and had found them correct.

They said the commission had termed the action of the education department illegal and had also recommended that the teachers should be reinstated.

DCO: DCO Mir Hussain Ali, with Latifabad Taluka Nazim Abdul Jabbar Khan and other officials, here on Saturday visited the newspaper market, the Media Centre, and assured hawkers their problems would be resolved.

All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation president Syed Afzal Ahmad Shah, in his briefing, said the Media Centre had been constructed on self-help basis by the hawkers, newspaper owners and agents.

He said the hawkers were facing problems due to the accumulation of dirty water on roads.

He demanded newspaper stalls in Latifabad, Qasimabad and Hyderabad should be regularized. He complained the stall owners were being harassed by local councils.

Seminar: The Institute of Scientific Management (ISM), Latifabad, on Friday organized a seminar on “Present Trends in Information Technology”.

Speaking at the seminar, vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, urged authorities of the education department to create awareness among students, from the elementary level, about importance of information technology.

He said managements of information technology institutes should offer programmes, keeping in view the present day requirements, and which could benefit the society.

The director of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, Prof Asif Ali G. Kazi, said information technology played an important role in development of a country.
