DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 11: Differences have surfaced between the district council and the district administration with Naib Nazim Javed Khan Qaisrani turning down the orders of DCO regarding the provision of offices to the chairman of Public Safety Commission at the district council building.

Sources said DCO Saqib Aleem had ordered provision of four rooms of the district secretariat to the newly elected chairman and members of Public Safety Commission.

The Naib Nazim was of the view that the DCO was not the competent authority to allot rooms in the secretariat of district government.

It is worth mentioning that the chairman of PSC was elected with the backing of six out of 10 members of the commission last week. The chairman, Sajid Farid, is said to belong to an anti-Nazim group.

Talking to this reporter, the newly-elected chairman alleged that the district Nazim and his team were creating hurdles for him and the PSC. He said his election was valid, as the member were free to elect their chairman under Section 45 and 51 of the PSC rules.

The DCO told Dawn that validity of the election of the public safety commission chairman would be settled by the home department and not by the district government.
