LAHORE, Jan 11: The matter concerning the alleged occupation of GOR-I bungalows by two ministers remained unresolved on Saturday, with the officials concerned hoping for its resolution at the chief minister’s level.
They said the matter had not been put to them for a decision. It would be resolved at the chief minister’s level even if an application was filed with the department concerned.
“It’s a high-level political issue and we do not want to intervene of our own.”
The government had allotted five ministers houses in the premier GOR-I. They included Akhtar Rizvi (labour), Dr Ashfaqur Rehman (forest), Arshad Lodhi (agriculture), Khadim Wattoo (zakat) and Hasnain Bahadur Dareshak (finance).
But two other ministers, Raza Ali Gilani and Husain Jahania Gardezi, had allegedly occupied the residences of Mr Rizvi (1-Shanon Road) and of Dr Ashfaq (2-College Road) through their guards.
The 1-Shanon Road bungalow was allotted to Mr Gilani’s father, Syed Ifzaal Shah Gilani, when he was a minister in the Shahbaz Sharif cabinet.
The ministers, who have not been allotted any official bungalow, are entitled to get a monthly house rent of Rs20,000 plus Rs15,000 for utility bills.
