ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: The capital territory administration has enhanced security for diplomats by deploying a new police force, headed by a superintendent of police, at Diplomatic Enclave, a senior official of the interior ministry told Dawn on Saturday.
The force has been included in the capital police and an SP established in the area. The office will be inaugurated by interior minister Faisal Saleh Hayat on January 13.
Under the special security measures, the superintendent of police and his subordinates will be available in the office round-the-clock. The number of police personnel deployed in the Diplomatic Enclave has been increased from 314 to 631, which is in addition to 585 Frontier Constabulary guards already deployed there, the official said.
He said additional equipment was being provided to the police for its operational requirements. He added that 15 help-line would be extended to the diplomatic area so that the diplomats could use it in case of emergencies.
