KARACHI, Jan 9: Bad weather in many parts of the country has been affecting PIA flight schedule for more than a week. From Jan 1 to 8, a total of 278 domestic flights have been affected, according to PIA.

Regretting the inconvenience caused to the passengers, PIA said that the worst hit was Karachi-Lahore sector as 215 affected flights belonged to this sector alone. Poor visibility and fog appeared to be the main trouble, it added.

During this period, 26 flights were cancelled, 15 diverted to alternative destinations and 71 ran behind their schedule on this sector.

Bad weather has also affected 103 flights on other sectors causing delay in the scheduled arrival and departure of domestic flights.

PIA arranged accommodation/hotel for the passengers who were stranded in Lahore, Faisalabad and Islamabad keeping in view the passengers’ comfort and convenience. They were provided refreshments/snacks and other facilities, it added.
