KARACHI, Jan 9: The activity on the Karachi Port is expected to further pick up as nine ships carrying containers, general cargo, chemicals and steel coils are expected to arrive on Friday.
Already the total tonnage handled rose to 0.108 million tons, comprising 21,881 tons of export cargo, including 948 tons of rice and 2,004 tons of chromore and 85,723 tons of imported goods, including oils, according to KPT sources.
Five ships, Kota Teraju, Al-Mirqab to unload and load containers, L.M.Z. Christina, Tirta Niaga-v111 and Sponsalis to offload crude oil, palm oil and gas oil, respectively, were berthed after the departure of three.
The ships, which departed were led by LT Grand, Manhattan Bridge and Sorena, while Isola Scralatta, Al-Mirqab, Kota Indah, L.M.Z. Christina and Tirta Niaga-v111 are due to sail out on Friday.
The following ships are due on Friday: Aegis, Arafat, Sea Brilliance, with general cargo, Good Hope, with crude oil, Iron-D, PONL Everest, Wan Hai-303, with containers, Stolt Alliance, with chemicals and Sumi Yoshi with steel coils.
