LAHORE, Jan 7: An ordinary card of six events awaits race-goers at the mid-week Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

All events will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1200 metres. In all, 78 runners have been accepted for the events after scratching on Tuesday.

The sixth and feature event has 13 acceptors barring last- minute withdrawals. Of them, on track work, four-year-old bay filly, Feel The Freedom stands out.

This filly from King Of Saxony out-of-Young Madonna was installed a firm favourite in the sixth and last race on Sunday. As the runners taking part in it reached the starting gates, Triple M , one of the participants bolted away and ran round the course.

On owner’s request the colt was withdrawn from the race. Triple M was second favourite and no other runner was backed. The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards cancelled the race before it was run.

Feel The Freedom, owned by Sohrab Khan, has neither won a race nor appeared on the board, but enjoys a very good reputation on track work.

And if track work reports are correct she should have no difficulty in winning the top honours.

The roan Familiar Master and inconsistent bay filly Silver Heart are the two contestants, who could pose some challenge to Feel The Freedom.

The first race will be held at 12.30 pm.
