KARACHI: Annual fee illegal: EDO

Published January 8, 2003

KARACHI, Jan 7: The executive district officer (EDO), Education, of the city government, Mohammad Rais Alvi, said the receipt of annual fee alongwith the monthly fee by the private schools, was illegal.

While speaking at a Radio Pakistan’s programme, Mr Alvi pointed out that under the Private School Management and Control Ordinance, 2003, the private schools had been allowed to enhance their monthly fee but they were not authorised to receive any amount under the head of annual fee.

He asked the parents to stop paying the annual fee because that was illegal.

Regarding the complaints pertaining to the untrained staff and low salaries of the teachers at these schools, he said if proved so, action could be taken against such schools.—APP
