KARACHI: Pro-US policy slammed

Published January 7, 2003

KARACHI, Jan 6: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal chief Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani has said that the way the government has surrendered before the US is a threat to the sovereignty of Pakistan and a challenge for the nation.

He was speaking at a public gathering in Banaras Town after inaugurating the MMA’s office on the eve of by-elections in NA-242 on Monday. MNA Laeeq Ahmad, JI district west chief Sifat Ahmad Siddiqui and Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui, who is contesting from the constituency, were also present.

Maulana Noorani admitted that despite success of the MMA in the NWFP and Balochistan in the Oct general elections, his party had failed to convey its message properly to the masses in Sindh and Punjab.—PPI
