KARACHI, Jan 6: The Islami Jamiat Talaba will observe a book week from Jan 7 to collect fund and books for deserving students.
The fund so generated would be spent on fees and other educational expenses of all such students of secondary and higher secondary classes who could not continue their education due to poor economic conditions of their parents or guardians.
Last year, the Jamiat had distributed monthly stipends worth Rs479,450 among the needy students, paid admission fees worth Rs161,455. In all, it spent Rs1,249,232 on students, said Munem Zafar Khan, Nazim of IJT Karachi.
It will hold two launching sessions at the S.M. Science College and Masjid-i-Khizra, Saddar, on Jan 7 and 8. The IJT workers will visit commercial and residential areas for fund-raising.
