PESHAWAR, Jan 5: The body of a three-day infant was exhumed by the doctors of Forensic Science Department here on Saturday on the order of a judicial magistrate conducting inquiry into his death.
The inquiry was ordered by the additional district and sessions judge, Saleem Khan, after receiving complaint of a woman, Khalida Bibi, accusing her husband and in-laws of strangulating her son to death.
The court had directed the civil judge-cum-judicial magistrate, Fazal Sattar Khan, to conduct an inquiry into the complaint lodged by the woman.
The body was exhumed by Dr Zahid Hussain and other officials of the Forensic Department, Khyber Medical College. They would present their report to the inquiry officer after examining the body for ascertaining the real cause of the death.
The inquiry officer had recorded statements of the complainant, her parents and a midwife in whose presence the child was born.
The complainant had first filed the complaint in the court of a judicial magistrate, who sent it to the district and sessions judge, Hayat Ali Shah. The district judge marked it to the additional district and sessions judge for taking cognizance of the issue.
The woman, a resident of Bara Gate, claimed that she was having estranged relations with her husband, Mohammad Saeed, and her in- laws. She alleged that she was a victim of domestic violence. The complainant claimed that she gave birth to a male child on Nov 13, 2002.
Khalida stated that three days after his birth her in- laws had a quarrel with her following which they killed the baby.
