KARACHI Oct 22: A young man was shot dead in Lyari area on Monday night. Syed Raza Ali Shah was sitting at his newspaper stall in the Khadda Market near Abdullah Haroon College when two gunmen on a motorcycle fired a single shot in his face, Superintendent of   Ly ari Police Sarfaraz Nawaz said.

Raza was taken to the Civil Hospital where he died.His body was taken to an Imambargah in Kharadar. “At the moment it will be premature to describe the killing as sectarian in nature,” the Superintendent of   Lyari Police said.

However, a spokesman for Majlis-i-Wahadatul Muslimeen descried it as a sectarian attack. The spokesman condemned the murder and called for immediate arrest of the killers.

DSP’s brother killed:

A younger brother of a police official was shot dead in Orangi Town on Monday night.

A duty officer at the Mominabad police station said the incident took place at Wajid Shaheed Chowk where Malik Kashif, 28, was attacked while passing through the area. Kashif was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.

“The victim was the younger brother of DSP Malik Qasim, a resident of Bismillah Colony Orangi Town,” the duty officer said.

Earlier, a policeman was killed and his associate was injured by gunmen in Manghopir area.
