ISLAMABAD Dec 29: The stage is set for the Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to obtain trust vote of a simple majority of the National Assembly in its special session on Monday.
His party has already filed a resolution reposing confidence in him as Leader of the House, which will be taken up at 11.30am.
According to the procedure, once the resolution is tabled, the house will be asked to give its voice vote in favour and against. If, however, it was objected to by any member, then a show of hands will be called. The announcement of the result will be made after the counting.
While the coalition parliamentary groups met at the prime minister’s house on Sunday evening to chalk out a strategy for the special session, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), PPP Parliamentarians and PML-N have separately convened their parliamentary party meetings at the National Assembly at 10am with Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Makhdoom Javed Hashmi presiding over, respectively.
As soon as the division by a show of hands will be complete and the result announced, the speaker will prorogue the session sine die, official sources said.
Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain will preside over the session which is likely to generate some heat as the opposition parties have planned to give vent to their sentiments against foreign agencies’ interference in the country’s internal affairs and the appointment of an MQM man as Sindh governor, whose credentials were not above board, sources said.
APP adds: A large number of MNAs here Sunday evening reposed full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.
The meeting of the PML-Q parliamentary party and other of its allies in the National Assembly held here, with the PM in the chair.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Jamali said the government had performed well during the thirty days.
During the meeting, Mr Bukhari, elected MNA from Multan, announced his decision to join the PML-Q.
