Request to CB Faisal

Published September 21, 2012

THE Cantonment Board, Faisal (CBF), Karachi, has nominated only one branch of the National Bank of Pakistan, located in Block 18, Gulistan- i- Jauhar, Karachi, to collect utility bills and property tax from the adjoining areas of Gulistan- i- Jauhar, Karachi.

The NBP branch is housed in the basement of Rufi Millennium which is hidden from the public eye, even though it provides no facilities to consumers who come to pay their utility bills or property tax. The staff looks like hens cooped in a cage for security reasons. On top of it, when other private banks take no service charges on utility bills, the above- mentioned NBP branch charges Rs15 on each property tax bill which is unjust.

Not only the NBP authorities are requested but also the CBF authorities concerned to shift the bank to a spacious location in Block 17 or 18 where taxpayers could pay their tax with ease.

Moreover, the levy of Rs15 is unwanted. It is for the CBF to pay service charges. It will be a great facility to taxpayers if they are not restricted to pay tax at only one branch of the NBP. They must have the option to pay their taxes at any branch of the NBP which would prove convenient for them.

The governor of the SBP is also requested to look into the matter and ask CBF authorities to relax the facility so that property tax could be paid at any branch of the NBP in Karachi.
