KARACHI, Dec 27: Himayati XI overcame a spirited Khushal Brothers 4-2 thanks to two goals from Abdul Rasheed in the qualifying round of the All-Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto football tournament on Friday.

Himayati XI got off to a fine start when they broke the ice in the 28th minute through Mohammad Usman but saw their effort cancelled out with Shahid Ali equalising in the 32nd minute.

Usman pulled another three minutes later and Rasheed made it 3-1 four minutes into the second half.

Still chasing their opposition, Khushal Brothers closed the gap when Shahid again found the target in the 57th minute. His effort went in vain as Rasheed sealed the fate of the game with a 72nd-minute raid.

Muslim Star scored a shock 3-2 victory over Lasbela Student by taking an early lead in the 4th minute of the game through Jan Alam.

Noor Islam stretched the ascendancy in the 17th minute and Kamal Ahmad’s finish in the 29th minute made it 3-0.

Lasbela Student staged a comeback after resumption but all they got were two goals from Tufail Ahmad Shah, first in the 57th minute and the second coming eight minutes later.

Mohammad Adnan’s winner helped Star XI defeat Al-Shahbaz XI 1-0, while Abdul Waheed struck in the 63rd minute enabling Young Star beat Dilboad Mohammadan by same margin.

Young Khokhrapar outplayed Aslam XI 2-0 thanks to a 24th-minute strike from Mohammad Moosa and a late effort by Sheer Ali in the 58th minute.

Mohammadi Sport got the better of Young Muslim Baloch 2-0. Mohammad Hayat (22nd minute) and Maqbool Ahmad (53rd minute) were the scorers.
