SKARDU, Dec 27: A gang of armed men allegedly broke into the house of Dawn correspondent in Skardu late on Thursday night, and manhandled his family, including his sick mother.

Almost 25 armed men allegedly came in two official cars (GLTA- 4184 and IDH 2459) of the secretary, Northern Areas Education Department, and barged into the house of Farman Ali Baltistani.

They herded the family into a room and threatened to kill them if they raised a hue and cry.

The correspondent’s brother is said to have been in a land dispute with the officials, which had been settled some times back.

Farman has lodged a report with the Skardu police against the attackers urging the Chief Executive of Northern Areas Aftab Ahmed Khan Sharpao and Force Commander, Northern Areas, Maj-Gen Nadeem Ahmad to order an inquiry into the incident.
