KARACHI, Dec 27: A jobless young man committed suicide in the city late Thursday night.

Police said that a man about thirty years of age died when he threw himself in front of a moving train near Karsaz.

A slip was recovered from the dead man’s pocket in which he had written that his name was Mohammed Anwer, and he took full responsibility for the suicide.

The dead man was resident of P&T Colony, Gizri.

Quoting the family sources, police said that the young man had been jobless for the past several months.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post- mortem.

CARJACKING: Twenty vehicles — eight cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, police said.

Four cars were hijacked. Four others were stolen.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Seven others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Friday to have recovered one car and two motorcycles.

ROAD ACCIDENT: An eight-year-old boy died in a road accident in Korangi on Friday.

Police said that Abdullah was playing outside his house in Noorani Basti, Zaman Town, when he was run over by a speeding truck (QAS-7375). He died on the spot.

The truck driver escaped abandoning the truck.

KILLED: A housewife of was killed in her house at Korangi late Thursday night.

Police said that unidentified persons barged into the house of Aslam Husain in Korangi No 2-1/2 and bashed in his wife Shamsun Nisa’s head with a cement block.

When her husband, Aslam, returned home he saw his wife lying in a pool of blood and a cement block lying near the body.

He reported the incident to police. The body was sent to the JPMC.

RECOVERED: Divers of the Pakistan Navy recovered the bodies of another three fishermen from the sea on Friday morning.

Police said that the bodies of Shams Alam, Mohammed Rafiq and Mohammed Nazeer were fished out from the sea.

The bodies were handed over to their relations.

At least nine fishermen had drowned in the sea when three boats capsized in the sea on Dec 24.

By Thursday five bodies were recovered from the sea.

DIES OF BURNS: A housewife died of burns at Civil Hospital on Friday.

Police said that Zainab, aged 30, wife of Wazir, suffered 66 per cent burns in her house at Keamari on Dec 23.

She was admitted to the burns ward at Civil Hospital, where she died.
