PESHAWAR, Dec 24: In order to resolve differences between the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s MPAs, the NWFP Governor, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, has ordered split of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) into two entities, says a notification issued by the provincial government here on Tuesday.
The members of the ruling alliance in the provincial assembly, from Swat and Dir regions, had locked horns over the decision of the provincial authorities’ concerned to shift BISE from Saidu Sharif, Swat, to Chakdara, Malakand Agency.
However, through a notification number S.O. (Boards)/7-16- 2002/BISE Swat, the NWFP government’s Schools and Literacy Department, on Tuesday, ordered establishment of a separate BISE at Chakdara (Malakand Agency) to resolve the issue confronting the MMA government in the Frontier province.
The notification reads: “The Governor of NWFP/Controlling Authority of Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education, NWFP, has been pleased to split the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Saidu Sharif, Swat, and to approve with immediate effect the establishment of two independent Boards (BISEs).”
According to the notification, faxed to newspaper offices, the BISE of Saidu Sharif, Swat, would be meant for the districts of Swat, Shangla and Buner districts.
The jurisdiction of BISE Malakand (Chakdara) would comprise the districts of Lower and Upper Dir, the provincially-administered tribal areas of Malakand agency in addition to Bajaur Agency which forms part of the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
Till the time the newly-established entities get the required number of staff, the chairman, BISE Saidu Sharif, would be looking after the affairs of the newly-established BISE Malakand at Chakdara.
