THATTA, Aug 18: Vice Chancellor Dr Nazir A. Mughal has said that the Sindh University has produced several scholars who earned name in various fields on national and international level.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the university’s Thatta Campus at Government Boys Degree College in Makli on Saturday, he said that the campus would help students of Thatta district in acquiring higher education without leaving home.

He said that the campus would start functioning from September and offer diploma courses in Computer Science, Business Administration, English and Coastal Area Management. Later, he added, the campus would offer degree courses in the subjects.

The VC said that the university would set up a university for women in Sukkur and a university of Sufism in Matiari after Eid.

Sindh Minister for Sindh Vocational and Technical Education Sadiq Memon said that the PPP government would establish the country’s first technical education university in Hyderabad soon.  It would be the second largest university of its kind in Asia after the University of Vocational Technology in Sri Lanka.

MNA Dr Wahid Soomro said that the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and the Institute of Business Administration were also going to establish campuses in different parts of Sindh.
