LAHORE, Dec 22: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has said that Lahorites will give a warm welcome to Iranian President Muhammad Khatami during his visit to the provincial metropolis.
The District Nazim observed this while presiding over a high-level meeting held here on Sunday to discuss the arrangements for the civic reception to be hosted by the City District Government at the historic Shalamar Gardens on Dec 25 in honour of the visiting dignatory.
District Naib Nazim Farooq Amjad Mir, District Coordination Officer Khalid Sultan, Town Nazimeen and Executive District Officers attended the meeting and gave proposals for holding the civic reception for the visiting dignatory from the neighbouring Islamic country in a befitting manner.
Union councils are also being associated for inviting the citizens to the civic reception. The District Nazim promised to issue at least 30 invitation cards for the civic reception to each of 150 Nazimeen in the Lahore District Council meeting held at Jinnah Hall on Saturday.
TUBEWELLS: The District Nazim has said that the City District Government was installing 23 new tubewells in the provincial metropolis at a cost of Rs560 million to improve the water supply arrangements.
Speaking after inaugurating a new tubewell installed at the Shah Kamal Colony at a cost of Rs3.5 million, the Nazim said that the tubewell would help improve water supply for over 20,000 residents of Clifton Colony, Shah Kamal Colony, Rehamanpura, Ichhra and Zafar Colony.
He said that the City Distrivct Government had adopted new priorities for development giving importance to the rundown areas. Provision of clean water and sewerage facilities to the poor was the first priority of the CDG.
