KARACHI: 7 cars, 11 bikes hijacked

KARACHI, Dec 22: Eighteen vehicles — seven cars and 11 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, police said.

Three cars were hijacked. Four others were stolen.

Five motorcycles were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed in the city on Sunday, police said.

Armed men looted cash and jewellery from a house in Gulshan-i-Iqbal in the early morning.

Police said that four armed men barged into the house of Ali Husain in Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block-3, held the occupants of the house hostage at gunpoint and got away with cash and jewellery.

Four bandits barged into a house in Nazimabad, held the occupants of the house hostage at gunpoint and looted cash and valuables. Two armed men robbed a young man of his mobile phone in Gulistan-i-Jauhar late Saturday night.

Nazeer was standing at a bus stop when two armed men, riding on a motorcycle, robbed him of his mobile phone.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A young man died in a road accident on Korangi Road in DHA on Sunday.

Police said that a pedestrian, Yaqeen Khan, aged 38, was run over by a speeding bus of route 17-K (P-071) while walking across the main Korangi Road. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem.

The bus driver escaped. Police, however, claimed to have impounded the bus.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man died of electrocution in SITE on Sunday.

Police said that Sahib Khan, aged 27, a labourer in a factory, suffered a severe electric shock when he stepped over naked electric wires.
