RAWALPINDI, Dec 21: A newly-born baby, who had been abandoned by his mother at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH), died on Friday.

Rukhsana, wife of Iqbal, a resident of Dhoke Hassu, gave birth to twins at the hospital on Friday.

One of the twins was normal, while the other one was sick and, therefore, admitted to the nursery for treatment.

The mother, after being discharged from the hospital, took away the healthy baby and did not bother to wait for the recovery of the sick one, who later died.

The incident came to the notice of the hospital administration after the expiry of the sick infant, since there was no one to claim the body.

Police help was sought after the administration failed to find the parents.
