KARACHI, Dec 21: A petition challenging the election of a PPP candidate from Larkana was on Saturday assigned by the Election Commission to the election tribunal comprising Justice Syed Ali Aslam Jafri of the Sindh High Court.

Syed Asghar Hussain Rashdi of the Grand National Alliance alleged, through Advocate Raja Qureshi, that his rival for NA-206 (Larkana-III), Khalid Iqbal Memon of the PPP, hired a person to have as many as 7,500 bogus national identity cards prepared for use in elections. They were actually used on the election day with the result that he lost the ballot by about 5,000 votes. The culprit made a confessional statement and a case was registered against him at Hyderi police station, Larkana.
