HYDERABAD, Dec 17: The Pakistan Muslim League-Q labour wing, Sindh, has warned the bureaucracy and the labour department that the labour wing would not tolerate any excesses against the workers.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club on Monday, the provincial additional secretary general of the labour wing, Abdul Moid Siddiqui; ladies wing leader of Karachi, Fehmida Rajput; and provincial vice president, Adil Ansari, said that the workers recruited during the regimes of Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif were being retrenched, and added that no retrenchment would be allowed.

They warned the labour department of serious consequences if any worker was victimized.

They announced that the year 2003 would be observed as the workers’ year.

ORDERLY ROOM HELD: The regional police officer, Hyderabad Region, Abdur Rauf Yousufzai, on Tuesday held an orderly room in his office in which appeals of police officers who had been punished by the DPOs of various districts were decided.

He rejected the appeal of ASI Aijaz Ali Deeshak whose services were terminated by the DPO, Hyderabad, for taking a bribe of Rs11,000 and opening fire on the anti-corruption staff in the premises of the court.

He rejected three appeals of ASI Tufail Ahmed Mari who had been punished by the DPO for remaining absent for 73 days, for registering a false case, and for refusing to attend the elite course. The DPO had forfeited his six-year service on three different charges.

Two appeals of ASI Ghulam Mustafa Leghari of forfeiture of his two-year service by the DPO, Hyderabad, in two different cases were rejected.

The appeal of Aijaz Ali Bhatti, Mirpurkhas district, whose services had been terminated by the DPO concerned, was accepted and he was reinstated in service as the charges against him could not be proved.

The appeal of ASI Mohammad Sadiq, Sanghar district, against the forfeiture of his one-year service was also accepted.

The regional police officer also heard seven other appeals and announced the decisions in the orderly room.
