RAWALPINDI, Dec 16: Pakistan Army retained the trophy of the 40th Inter Services Athletics Championship on Monday with a total domination of the three-day event, winning all the 14 gold medals and gathering more than double the points of second-placed Pakistan Navy.
Pakistan Army won 10 silver and one bronze medal, in addition to 14 gold medals, to finish with 153 points — a lead of 86 points over runners up Pakistan Navy which had four silver and five bronze medals.
Pakistan Air Force took the third position with 59 points from five bronze medals.
Army easily clinched gold medals in all the seven events which were at stake on the concluding day, repeating their performance of the first day Saturday when they had made a clean-sweep of all the six finals.
Army runners also won the 12 kilometres cross-country race which was the only event scheduled for the second day Sunday. Pakistan Navy finished second in the cross country race.
Pakistan Navy athletes put up an improved performance on the last day, in contrast to the first day, by winning three silver medals-in the events of 200 metres, 1500 metres and 4x100 metres relay.
Army had won gold as well as silver medals in all the events on Saturday.
These events were pole vault, 100 metres race, 800 metres race, 400 metres hurdles race, shot put and triple jump.

L/NK Afzal Baig (200 metres, 21.79sec), Hav. Atta Miran (1500 metres, 4min:04sec.), Hav. Muhammad Mumtaz (110 metres hurdles, 14.35sec), NK. Zulfiqar Ali (Long Jump, 7.24 metres), NK Naveed Akhter (discus throw,47.83 metres), L/Hav. Ghulam Shabbir (Hammer Throw,59.37 metres) and NK Munawwar Taj, Hav. Irfan, NK Afzal Baig, NK M.
