KARACHI, Dec 16: ABB, the leading power and automation technology group has signed a memorandum of understanding with ICI Pakistan for provision of engineering services and solutions consultancy to the petrochemical, chemical, fertiliser, manmade fibres, oil and gas and consumer related industries within Pakistan, UAE and other mutually agreed Gulf Cooperation Countries, a press release issued by ICI Pakistan on Monday, said.

The statement stated that ABB sees opportunities to provide broad life cycle services and solution to their target customers in the petrochemical, chemical and related industries as a result of their acquisition of Eutech Engineering Solutions from ICI in February 2001. “ICI Pakistan has key engineering resources and they wish to develop their business portfolio both in Pakistan and Middle East,” the ICI Pakistan press release said.

Dinesh Paliwal, head of the Automation Technologies division was quoted to have said: “ABB is very proud of its track record in providing customer services and solutions which span the entire product and plant lifecycle. Our relationship with ICI Pakistan will further strengthen this capability—especially in areas such as consulting, asset management, and project delivery.”

In February 2001, ABB had acquired Eutech Engineering Solutions Limited, the former Engineering Division of ICI. Eutech will coordinate with other local ABB entities in Pakistan and UAE that are participating in this collaboration, the ICI press release said.
