Salt export deal signed with US firm

ISLAMABAD, Dec 14: Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) has signed an export contract with Tech Gem Corporation of New York, for export of large quantity of rock salt.

PMDC chief executive Brig Ishtiaq Ali Khan signed the export contract with Tech Gem recently in a ceremony held here at PMDC head office.

PMDC sources told APP here on Saturday the rock salt would be exported to US on long-term basis from salt mines of Pakistan, where huge deposits of rock salt were available.

He said this export contract was a milestone in PMDC export activities and would bring to Pakistan an earning of appreciable foreign exchange, besides creating jobs in salt mines areas of Pakistan.

This will also improve the financial position of PMDC, he added.—APP
