HYDERABAD, Nov 20: A large number of women teachers of government primary schools of Hyderabad City and tehsil here on Tuesday staged a protest sit-in at the office of the SDEO (female) and demonstrations outside the office of Hyderabad District Nazim and the Hyderabad press club against the education department and Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC).

Speaking at the rally, the convener of the action committee, Ms Nusrat Khanem Yousufzai and other leaders lashed out at the SPSC for calling women teachers of Hyderabad to Karachi for interview when the head office of the commission was located in Hyderabad.

Referring to the scrutiny of their papers and educational certificates, they said this exercise had already been conducted two times.

They said they were however prepared to take part in this exercise for the third time provided it was conducted in Hyderabad.

Later talking to Dawn the action committee leaders said there were more than 600 primary teachers who had been called for interviews and scrutiny of their papers.

They pointed out throughout Sindh only the primary teachers of Hyderabad City tehsil had been summoned by the education department and the SPSC for interviews.
