Under the agreement, Canon Traders and the Lahore Zoo have entered into a partnership, with the WWF-Pakistan as technical adviser, for the preparation and mounting of informative signs on the enclosures of 44 mammals at the zoo. The Wildlife Department additional secretary, Khwaja Shumail Ahmad, and the zoo director Raja Javed were present at the MoU signing ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the WWF-Pakistan president and the Wildlife Department additional secretary described the event as important. They said the purpose of the project was to help promote wildlife awareness.

The financial support, under the MoU, would be provided by a Thai company through its representatives, the Canon Traders, for the complete development and mounting of the signage. The company would also provide funds for the annual maintenance of the signs.

In its capacity as technical advisor, the WWF-Pakistan will carry out research for the preparation of signs, provide technical assistance for the content, lay out and design and supervise the manufacturing of the signs.
