Plagiarism

IT is a sad that many children copy stuff from different sources like internet, books, etc., and send them with their own byline. It is not a good practice.

In the May 12, 2012 issue of YW, a poem My mother, appeared with the byline Azka Iqbal Qazi, which was actually copied from a school's magazine, Chammag, published this year and the actual writer of the poem is Haneef Wahag.

Copying others’ poems, stories, articles, etc., and sending it for publication with one's own name is an act of plagiarism and indeed, a great embarrassment when it comes to others' knowledge.

I advice and request such people not to copy other's material, they should be happy with whatever they write because it is their own creation.

Oh, mother of mine

This is with reference to the article Oh, mother of mine by Veda Riaz Fatmy (YW, May 12, 2012). The article focused on the importance of mothers  in our lives.

A mother is a precious creation of God; she dedicates her life to us. She deserves a lot of respect from us, so we shouldn’t just make her happy once a year but make each and every day special for her.

Mother Earth

This is with reference to the article A letter from Mother Earth by Mohammad Niaz (YW, April 21, 2012). I was shocked as well as sad to read the article. It is a cruel fact that the condition of Earth is detoriating and it keeps giving us warnings to take care of it. We, humans have become so selfish and blind that we take benefits from everything around us and harm all the other species living on this same earth.

It is time for all of us to take positive steps, like growing trees, cutting back carbon emissions, using paper or cloth bag instead of plastic ones. A few positive steps would go a long way  in saving the environment of our earth. So do not waste time, act now!
