Mesmerizing spell by Zafar

KARACHI, Dec 12: Leg-spinner Muhammad Ali Zafar finished with match haul of nine wickets for 43 runs to spin Zone-II to easy eight wickets win over Zone-VI in KCCA Inter-zonal cricket championship at NBP Sports Complex Ground Wednesday.

M.A.Zafar bagged took his wickets in a deadly spell of 17.2 overs to dismiss Zone-VI for 148 in 46.2 overs. Zone-II in reply reached the target in 40th over. Opener Meer Rashid blasted 12 boundaries in his match winning knock of 64.

Rashid Hanif produced a splendid all-round show to guide Zone-IV to another victory when they defeated Zone-III by four wickets at Pakistan Steel Township Ground.

Rashid took five wickets for 78 runs with left arm slow bowling and later mad an unbeaten 37. Opener Khurram Manzoor cracked 64 with nine hits to the boundary.

In another match Zone-VI beat Zone-I by ten wickets. Zone-I were bundled out for 60 in 23.2 overs. Pacer Nadeem Babar took four wickets for 25 runs.

Zone-V romped home without loss in the 9th over. Saqib Zia hit 37 not out.
