CM discusses candidates for bypolls

LAHORE, Dec 12: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Thursday held consultations with his party leaders about candidates for byelections to PP-142 and 147 (Lahore).

The PML(N) has shortlisted four candidates for these seats.

They are; Inamullah Khan Niazi, Zaeem Qadri, Khwaja Salman and Rana Tanvir Husain.

The PPP will support the PML-N) in these elections.

Meanwhile, Punjab PML-N Secretary-General Khwaja Saad Rafiq has written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan, expressing reservations about the posting of Chaudhry Shafqat Waraich as SP City at a time when byelections to PP-142 and 147 (Lahore) are to be held shortly.

He has urged the CEC to pass an order that postings and transfers of police officers and executive officers should be withheld till the elections are over.
