KARACHI, Dec 12: A woman committed suicide in the city on Thursday.

Tahira Bib, aged 50, committed suicide by jumping down from the rooftop of a multi-storey building at Arambagh in the morning, police said.

She was married to Abdul Sattar. The couple had no children.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

CARJACKING: Twenty vehicles — seven cars and 13 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Thursday, police said.

Four cars were hijacked. Three others were stolen.

Seven motorcycles were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

ROBBERIES: Two robberies were committed in the city on Thursday, police said.

Armed men looted a bungalow in Gizri and also took away the guard’s pistol.

Police said that armed men got away with Rs 24,000, gold jewellery, watches and a mobile phone from a bungalow in DHA’s Phase VII in the morning.

They also snatched the guard’s pistol while fleeing from there.

Two bandits, riding on a motorcycle, intercepted a trader, Amir, on Sharea Faisal and robbed him of Rs40,000.

ROAD ACCIDENT: An unidentified man died when his speeding jeep fell from Jinnah Bridge on Thursday evening.

Police said that a speeding jeep (BC-2192) broke the bridge’s railing and fell several hundred feet down to the ground. The driver died on the spot.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital, where he remained unidentified.

According to initial reports, the jeep fell from the bridge due to reckless driving.

However, police did not rule out the possibility of suicide.

KILLED: A young man was stabbed to death in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday.

Police said that Francis alias Sony Masih, aged 24, was stabbed by unknown men in Zia-ul-Haq Colony, Gulshan-i-Iqbal. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Sources at the hospital said that Francis died of excessive bleeding.

Police said that the dead man was a heroin addict, and he might have been killed by another addict in a quarrel over drug.

The dead man’s father, Hakim, said that they had no enmity with anyone.
